Recently I was contacted by singer / song-writer Sharon Lazybird. She is of course, one half of the duet Lazibyrd (along with Tom Chapman). She asked if I’d be interested in reviewing her single ‘What Time Is Later?’. Its a good song; so here it is….
It is a song that ponders the meaning of time, and was inspired by Sharon’s daughter who apparently posed the question at Purbeck Folk Festival recently. In Sharon’s words (From Bandcamp): “This question as well as being a great line was thought-provoking and the rest of the song seemed to flow quite naturally from that starting point: what does ‘later’ really mean?”
Sharon sings beautifully and plays a fine sounding tenor ukelele on the song; and she is ably assisted by Damon Bridge (Piano / accordion); and Kate Bridge (Violin / backing vocals) – both members of Folk band Owl In The Sun. It is a lovely song with a pensive feel to it, and quite haunting. Beautifully arranged and excellently performed. Sharon says that she has other new material in the pipeline for release this year too. PTMQ
